Heat oven to 400°. Line 12 medium muffin cups with paper baking cups. Mix all ingredients, except cheese and bacon, just until moistened (batter will be lumpy). Fold in cheese and bacon. Divide batter among muffin cups. Bake until golden brown.

SWEET POTATO-NUT BREAD

2½ c. sugar

2 tsp. baking soda

2/3 c. vegetable oil

1½ tsp. salt

4 eggs

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 (16 oz.) can sweet potatoes, drained

1 tsp. cloves

½ tsp. baking powder

2/3 c. water

1 c. chopped nuts

3½ c. all-purpose flour
